Development of i-CT Framework and Application for Communication of YES/NO Type

This master thesis deals with issues of development of applications for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in environment of special education for mentally challenged pupils with communication disorders. Thesis presents issues of development contemporary applications and follows on design principles of Computer therapy project, which compliance during the design and implementation should prevent the current issues. The aim of the thesis is creation of application for AAC of YES/NO type and i-CT framework - framework simplifying creation of similar apps for described environment. Both apps works on iOS and Android systems and were tested in an environment of people with mental disabilities.
The risk of learning disability in preschool children with communication disorders

This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of the risk of specific learning disabilities based on the partial function deficits in preschool children with communication disorders. The bachelor thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the terminology closely related to communication disorders. In addition, the thesis defines and clarifies the terminology of specific learning disabilities, their subdivisions as sell as describes the deficits of the partial function deficits, which are related to them. In the practical part, the course of the research investigation is described, and the analysis of the results is also carried out. The qualitative research was conducted in a preschool institute, and with the consent of the legal guardians of the participating children, individual anamneses of each children were taken. Subsequently, the diagnostic method of B. Sindelar, its evaluation and comparison with other individuals was carried out. The thesis also attempts to compare with the results published in the available literature on a similar topic. Phoniatric and speech therapy intervention for people with voice disorders

The thesis was written in the Speech therapy field of study. Thesis deals with the topic of voice disorders and the mutual cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists in this area. The starting point of the theoretical part of the thesis is the definition of the fields of speech therapy and phoniatry. Then the theoretical part deals with voice disorders and the definition of voice. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the area of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of voice disorders. The goal of the practical part of the thesis was to find out, with the use of the information and knowledge from the theoretical part, how the cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists works, to analyse the procedures used for diagnosis and treatment of people with voice disorders and to reveal what other possibilities of cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists could be exploited. Communication disorders in relation to school maturity and the child's preparation for first grade

The thesis deals with the topic of communication disorders in relation to school maturity and the child's preparation for first grade. The theoretical part is devoted to the theoretical definition of the issue of school maturity and readiness, with an emphasis on communication skills and the impact of impaired communication skills on first grade education. It also focuses on the possibilities of developing a child's communication skills before entering first grade. One of the chapters focuses on Elkonin's stimulating language skills training program. The practical part of the thesis is conducted by qualitative method of investigation through semi-structured interviews with a clinical speech therapist, a special educator - speech therapist and a speech therapy assistant. The practical part explores the developmental opportunities for the child with impaired communication skills and the benefits of the Elkonin programme for training language skills for impaired communication skills in preparation for the start of compulsory schooling. Problems of children speech pathology in primary school

The bachelor's thesis describes the problem of communication disorders that most often occur in children. It deals with speech development and speech disorders on a broader scale. The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part draws from the literature on the subject. First, the thesis focuses on speech ontogeny and the stages of speech development. The second part focuses on the general issue of speech therapy. Finally, the different types of speech disorders are discussed. The practical part takes the form of a questionnaire survey in which experiences with speech therapy and speech disorders among primary school pupils in Pribram are examined.
Psychosocial consequences of balbuties at young adult age

The topic of the thesis is the psychosocial consequences of stuttering at young adult age. Within the theoretical part, the first chapter defines stuttering, specifically its definition, stages (borderline, incipient, fixed and chronic stuttering), symptomatology and etiology. The second chapter is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering, divided into subchapters on diagnosis and therapy. The third chapter, dealing with stuttering in young adults, includes a subchapter on the specifics of young adult age and the life with stuttering in the described age. The theoretical part is followed by an empirical part. The aim of the research investigation was to find out what psychosocial consequences young adult stutterers face and how these can be minimised. To achieve this aim, a qualitative research method was chosen. All the necessary data were collected through semi-structured interviews, which were conducted in two phases - the first interviews were conducted with the stutterers themselves, and after coding the collected data, interviews were conducted with experts who provided their view on the information from the stutterers. The results of the research investigation were used to answer the set research questions and also to define the grounded theory.
Pupil with communication disorders in preparatory class

The bachelor thesis "Pupils with Communication Disorders in Preparatory Classes" analyses the issues of preparatory classes. It develops the competences of school readiness and preparedness. The thesis summarizes the speech development as a basis for the diagnosis of communication disorders. It declares the positive effects of preparatory classes on the development of communication skills of children with postponed school entry in the region of Prague 9. The thesis proves the need to include children with communication disorders into preparatory classes. It offers the possibility to the parents of children attending preparatory classes to express their opinions on the functioning of these classes. It informs parents of preschool children in the region of Prague-East about the existence of preparatory classes and it monitors the level of parents' awareness. A mixed-method research is applied in the study. It combines a quantitative method - a questionnaire - and qualitative methods - structured dialogues and case studies. In the conclusion of the thesis practical recommendations are offered: amendment of the Education Act and the implementation of school-readiness testing at the beginning and at the end of the school year. Design and realization of communication application for mobile phones intended to help people with communication disorders

The thesis deals with severe speech impairments, which require using assistive verbal devices as the means of everyday communication. Its main objective was to create an augmentive communication appplication for a mobile phone. The thesis specifies some severe communication disorders, mentions available communication applications for mobile phones and gives a description of developing and trial testing of the application. The appliaction is primarily intended for children of pre-school and younger school age who suffer from sever communication disorders. Its main purpose is to support the target groupe in communication with other people.
